Data Services and Hot Issues in American Libraries

Terrence Bennett, Business & Economics Librarian from The College of New Jersey have a talk at Li Ka Shing Library in the Singapore Management University this afternoon between 3.30pm to 5pm.

Terrence discussed his research concerning data services in academic libraries, including preliminary findings from his current investigation of data acquisition, creation and use among researchers at SMU.

In addition, he also shared some interesting findings concerning the causes of emotional toxicity among coworkers in libraries.

Terrence in his closing remark highlighted some of the recent issues in librarianship that have become catalysts for concern and controversy among US librarians.

What I take home and have it linger in my mind is: If the online catalog in the library is just "card catalog" online, would that be replaced by the other more efficient methods of online record format for books etc...
