Wisdom, Knowledge and Education vs Religion

Religion, like water, may be free, but when they pipe it to you, you've got to help pay for piping. And the Piper!

--Abigail Van Buren

Wisdom, like water, may be free, but when they pipe it to you, you've got to help pay for piping, and the Piper!

Knowledge, like water, may be free, but when they pipe it to you, you've got to help pay for piping, and the Piper!

Education, like water, may be free, but when they pipe it to you, you've got to help pay for piping, and the Piper!

That may explain the cost of education nowadays as the pipes are getting longer and become very complicated.

The Pipers are working so hard to sort out the various pipes, colour coding them and try to match a unique pipe to a unique learner.

On top of that, water, though inexpensive, is not free in most countries now! Hence, if you are willing to learn and can learn by self study, it will cost you very little beside your time and your effort.

If you cannot learn it through self study, you have to pay the school fee, additional tuition fee and other fees like transportation etc...

Self-love vs self-abuse

We have the need to be accepted and to be loved by others, but we cannot accept and love ourselves.

The more self-love we have, the less we will experience self-abuse.

Self-abuse comes from self-rejection, and self-rejection comes from having an image of what it means to be perfect and never measuring up to that ideal.

Our image of perfection is the reason we reject ourselves the way we are, and why we don't accept others the way they are.

It is not what happens to you, it is what you do about it!

...what I focus on in life is what I get.

And if I concentrate on how bad I am or how wrong I am or how inadequate I am,

if I concentrate on what I can’t do and how there’s not enough time in which to do it,

isn’t that what I get every time?

And when I think about how powerful I am,

and when I think about what I have left to contribute,

and when I think about the difference I can make on this planet,

then that’s what I get.

You see, I recognize that it’s not what happens to you;

it’s what you do about it.

The meaning of life

Ultimately, man should not ask what the meaning of his life is, but rathermust recognize that it is he who is asked.

In a word, each man is questioned by life; and he can only answer to life by answering for his ownlife; to life he can only respond by being responsible.

Icebreakers

I am now attending Advanced Certificate in Training & Assessment (ACTA) course, and the assessment report for Module 4A "Prepare and facilitate classroom training" motivated me to search for some Ice breakers.

I found the following sites with comprehensive collections for teaching big or small groups:

"This site features instructions to several playtested, high quality free icebreakers, fun games, and team building activities - perfect for group facilitation, the first day of class (teaching), training, and icebreakers for meetings of all kinds. To achieve good group dynamics or just for fun, these free icebreaker games can be useful as youth group activities, party games, business and corporate training activities, college group activities, activities for kids, or simply good icebreaker games for family or friends on a lazy Saturday afternoon.
