The Power To Achieve Your Goals

"If you make the unconditional commitment to reach your most important goals, if the strength of your decision is sufficient, you will find the way and the power to achieve your goals."

"Dreams get you into the future and add excitement to the present."

"People want riches; they need fulfillment."

"If human beings are perceived as potentials rather than problems, as possessing strengths instead of weaknesses, as unlimited rather that dull and unresponsive, then they thrive and grow to their capabilities."

"It's not the situation. It's your reaction to the situation."

"Resistance is thought transformed into feeling. Change the thought that creates the resistance, and there is no more resistance."

-- Robert Conklin

These are quotes that give me the strength and power to pursue what I enjoy in life!

Creating a Healthy Family

Do you want to create a healthy family?

Show love every day by listening, noticing the good, praising, touching, and holding true to your commitments.

Grand gestures are fine, but in the long run, they count for less than the accumulation of small acts of love.

Look At What You Have Not Waht You Don't Have

If you look at what you have in life, you'll always have more.

If you look at what you don't have in life, you'll never have enough.

-- Oprah Winfrey

If you are able to adopt this philosophy, you will not focus on what you do not have.

You will make use of what you have now and make the best out of it!

All Of Us Need Only A Bit Of Praise

Most of us, swimming against the tides of trouble the world knows nothing about,

need only a bit of praise or encouragement --

and we will make the goal.

-- Jerome P. Fleishman

Reading this quotation after the Party and Sharing session at Teo Ann Hui Guan is rather enlightening. At the sharing session, we reflect on our Teo Chew Opera Singing Performance on 13 Sept 2008, and I think even the performance of the group leave have a lot of room for improvements, nevertheless, each and everyone of us who participanted in this evening event have put in our best and deserve some priase from one another. It is our multure support and encouragement that move and movitate us to go on.

Cheers!

Consult not your fears but your hopes and your dreams.

Think not about your frustrations, but about your unfulfilled potential.

Concern yourself not with what you tried and failed in, but with what it is still possible for you to do.

-- Pope John XXIII (1881-1963)

Our fears consume a lot of our time and block us from thinking positively.

I have wasted a lot of time being fearful for something I am not certain about whether it will happen.

The best way to overcome fear, is just to do something and de-focus from it.

No one can be successful all the time, yet being frustrated and afraid of failure in future will just make the prophesy come true.

Enrich your knowledge

Beside reading and indulging in art and craft, most of my time is spending on attending talks and courses.

Although I enjoy learning from books, it is not a quick way of acquiring knowledge or skills.

As an ex-librarian, instead of going to the library and poring pages of book and learn in non-interactive mode, I also enjoy learning from some one in person with face to face interaction.

Attending talks and go to classes enrich my life! So I also make time for it!

Change vs Challenge

Change is a nature of life.

But challenge is aim of life.

So, you have to challenge the changes, but not change the challenges.

Emotion vs Intellect

Most of us know how to follow our emotions, but they shouldn't be the only mode that drives us.

If something arouses your curiosity, analyze it using your intellect for a change.

If you are an intellectual person, the other way round is equally true!

Being in your world, but not of it

Remember, this is what you are after.

You are not concerned with outer appearances, only with your inner experience.

Let the outer world be what it is.

Create your inner world as you would have it be.

This is what is meant by being in your world, but not of it.

This is mastery in living.

-- Neale Donald Walsch

Nothing will not last forever

Good fortune--remember it's fickle;
misfortune--remember it'll pass.

-- Solomon Ibn Gabirol, "Mibhar HaPeninim"

Remember that Good fortune and misfortune will not last forever!

When we are enjoying good fortune, it is best to share with others, as sharing double our joys!

When we face misfortune, it is good to know that it will pass, remember nothing will last forever!
Treasure what we have!

When life is hard, don't moan and forget that every cloud has a silver lining!

Have Fun

The more fun you have, the more detached you can be from the circumstances of your life. You cease to be obsessed by money, by how you look, by how you compare with others, by your need for approval. You can still have fun in the midst of it all.

-- John-Roger

I like to be a bubbly friend to my friends!

The reasons I can have so much FUN when gathering with friends are:

* we are more detached from the circumstances of our life!

* we are not obsessed by money, by how we look, and we don't compare with one another,

* and we do not need to seek approval for what we say or do, we can just be ourselves!

Thanks, friends, for making it possible!

Cheers!

Let Others Shine AND Let Ourselves Shine

"... people in our society at least unconsciously hold the conviction that someone else's success limits their own, makes them lesser, and puts a permanent lid on their own chances.

The world believes in finite resources and in everybody's guilt. As long as we adhere to these pernicious beliefs, we will not only fail to let others shine, but we will never be able to allow ourselves to shine fully either."

-- Marianne Williamson

When you light up other people's lives and let them shine, you are the one who holds the candle with light.

The different between having the light on your candle and lighting others as well are:

With light on your candle, you have some light to shine on your journey in life. When you light up another's candle, the light on their candle not only brightens their life, it also illuminates yours!

Sometimes in life, we may hold a candle without light and live in darkness.

We would appreciate those who light it up!

When we need the light and someone passing by lights it up for us, our hearts rejoice with the brightness it brings!

That experience is unforgettable!

If creating that unforgettable experience is as convenient and as easy as lighting a candle for others, why hesitate!

I have just celebrated my birthday and I am thankful to have friends who always light up my candle when I need it!

My life is only meaningful if I can light up theirs as well!
