Visit to "Reflections at Bukit Chandu"

Reflections at Bukit Chandu is the name of the Museum, as it sounds very much like a title of a book, it takes me some time before I can link it to a site, and unlink it with an image of a book!

I was a Librarian for too long and the habit is hard to change!

Well, it is the visit to "Reflections at Bukit Chanduon" that made the link sealed in my mind.

How the visit take place:

NLB offered 10 slots for LAS members (non-NLB staff) to join the group for this visit, I was fortunate to be one of the 10.

Transportation was provided from the National Library Building to Reflections at Bukit Chandu and return.

Some of the members go on their own, I find it easier to meet the group at 2.15pm and take the Bus from NLB.

Reflections at Bukit Chandu is located at 31-K Pepys Road, Singapore 118458. It is a WWII Interpretative Centre that presents the local perspective of the war in the Far East, and is located close to where the Battle of Pasir Panjang, one of the last significant battles fought in Singapore, took place.

It emphasis on the battles fought in Singapore, and the Malay Regiment who defended the Pasir Panjang area, it is an excellent prelude to the stories displayed in the exhibition gallery at Memories at Old Ford Factory.

If you enjoyed the tour organised by LAS to Memories at Old Ford Factory like me, you may like to visit Reflections at Bukit Chandu to find out more about the Malayan Campaign and the bravery of the Malay Regiment soldiers.

If it is hard to take a day off to visit the site and see the real things, the web site at:

will be a good alternative.

Here is our Programme of the day:

2.50 pm Arrival at Reflections at Bukit Chandu

If you liket to visit the Centre at 31K Pepys Road S(118458), here is the Driving directions I found from the web page:

For a quick 30-minute drive from the city, take AYE and exit at South Buona Vista Road towards Pasir Panjang Road. At the end of South Buona Vista Road, turn left into Pasir Panjang Road and turn left again at the 5th junction to enter Pepys Road. Free parking is available at Carparks C and D.

The place is hard to find, and this location map will be very useful.
Print a copy and followng the map, you will less likely to have the problem locating it!
