【2012 udn talks

【2015 udn talks

Published on 14 Sep 2015

I long to accomplish a great and noble task, but it is my chief duty to accomplish small tasks as if they were great and noble.
Helen Keller (1880 - 1968)
American Writer

=====

Sometimes, especially on a Sunday morning, you may not feel like taxing your brain too much...

Hence, doing something small, accomplish it, will make you feel just as great!

Nobody grows old by merely living a number of years.
People grow old only by deserting their ideals.
Years may wrinkle the skin, but to give up interest wrinkles the soul.

Douglas MacArthur

=====

When you give up doing things that you like, you do not feel like yourself!

When you give up your interest, nothing in life will interest you!

I am a keeper of old things, including my many hobbies and interests!

To me they are knowledge that I acquired days by days, and I hope it might transform to wisdom one day...

Even without being wise, my hobby and interest do help to keep my soul unwrinkled.

I am able to live in a youthful soul, when I am re-experience the joys of my many old hobbies, like flower arrangement that I did here!

Dexterine Ho Soo Miang

A musician must make music, an artist must paint, a poet must write, if he is to be ultimately at peace with himself. What a man can be, he must be.
-Abraham Maslow
(1908-1970) American Psychologist

=====

A person who likes things that inspire the soul, may like to look at how a small flower express the beautiful side of it...

And try to preserve it, or mirror it!

Dexteirne Ho Soo Miang

The secret of getting ahead is getting started. The secret of getting started is breaking your complex overwhelming tasks into small manageable tasks, and then starting on the first one.
Mark Twain (1835 - 1910)
American Author and Humorist

=====

I adore grant scale Ikebana, yet I can only start with something small, something that I can manage and afford first!

Dexterine Ho Soo Miang

Life is no brief candle to me.

It is sort of a splendid torch which I have got hold of for a moment, and I want to make it burn as brightly as possible before handing it on to future generations.
George Bernard Shaw (1856-1950)
Irish Playwright

=====

We each hold a small torch!

I just try to burn it as bright as possible.

Doing training is the way I handing it on to fellow librarians or any keen learners, and they become my multipliers and subsequently benefit the generations beyond...

Arranging flower, is the let the flower shine like a torch, lighting the soul, and let those who admire it, have the joys of seeing the light!
